Warranty Information
Understanding Roofing Warranties
Roofing warranties are often misunderstood. Not all warranties offer the same protection, and many are only valid if specific conditions are met. Understanding how warranties work is key to protecting your investment.
Garcia Roofing provides clear guidance on how warranties work, what they cover, and what’s required to keep them valid. If you have any questions, contact us today.

What Types of Warranties Are Available?
Most commercial roofing projects include two types of warranties.

Workmanship Warranty

Covers installation-related issues, typically provided by the contractor.
Garcia Roofing offers a 2-year comprehensive workmanship warranty, so if any problems arise in the first two years, give us a call and we’ll happily solve it.
Manufacturer Warranty
Covers materials and, in many cases, workmanship when installed by a certified contractor.
Some manufacturer warranties are “No Dollar Limit” (NDL) warranties, meaning they cover labour, materials, and workmanship for the duration of the warranty period.
Warranty FAQ
Common Questions We Hear About Roof Warranties
We believe you should understand your options when choosing or claiming a roof warranty. A warranty should be meaningful, enforceable, and backed by proper installation—not just a piece of paper.
How long do roofing warranties last?
Warranty terms typically range from 10 to 30 years, depending on the roofing system and materials used. Longer warranties often require higher-grade materials and more stringent installation details, such as prefabricated flashings and drains.
What affects the cost of a roofing warranty?
Warranty cost is usually tied to:
- Roofing system type
- Warranty length
- Required materials and installation methods
For example, a longer-term warranty may require upgraded components to ensure consistent performance over time.
What can void a roofing warranty?
The most common reasons warranties become void include:
- Lack of documented annual maintenance
- Maintenance or repairs performed by non-certified contractors
- Improper installation or use of non-approved materials
- Unapproved work by other trades on the roof
Annual inspections and maintenance must be performed and documented by a contractor certified by the warranty manufacturer.
Who handles warranty claims?
If a warranty issue arises, the claim can be initiated through either the installer or the manufacturer. Manufacturers typically contact the original installer first, but any certified contractor may be assigned to complete warranty work if required.
Why are warranties still important if the contractor is reputable?
Even with proper installation, unforeseen issues can occur due to environmental factors, building changes, or external damage. A warranty provides additional protection beyond workmanship and ensures the roof can be serviced by certified contractors if circumstances change.
